REMINDER: La Salle Commencement Ceremonies May 9

Philadelphia, PA (05/09/2026) — What: La Salle University's 163rd Commencement Ceremonies for the Class of 2026

When: Saturday, May 9

  • Undergraduate: 10 a.m. with honorary degree recipient David McShane, MFA, '88, muralist and senior mural production advisor at Mural Arts Philadelphia, and student speaker Katie McGovern, '26.
  • Graduate: 4 p.m. with speaker Judith Spires, '75, MBA '09, chair of retail and industry relations of InSpire Inc.

Where: La Salle University's McCarthy Stadium, 1900 W. Olney Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19141

The graduates: La Salle will award degrees to over 1,000 students across associate's, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs for the 2025-26 academic year.

  • Honorary degree recipient: La Salle will bestow an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters upon David McShane, MFA, '88, during the undergraduate ceremony at 10 a.m. McShane, muralist and senior mural production advisor at Mural Arts Philadelphia, has completed nearly 300 large, outdoor, community-based murals in and around the city, focused on all the things that make Philadelphia so special. He will address students receiving their undergraduate degrees.
  • Undergradute student speaker: Katie McGovern, '26, will address her classmates during the undergraduate ceremony. McGovern, a Bioengineering 4+1 Program student, will share reflections on her four years at La Salle, and the lessons she'll take with her into the future.
  • Graduate Ceremony Speaker: Judith Spires, '75, MBA '09, will deliver the graduate commencement address at 4 p.m. chair of retail and industry relations of InSpire Inc, Spires has had a long and distinguished career as a supermarket executive who has dedicated her entire career, which includes milestones like becoming the first female management trainee in Acme Markets history, to the industry.
