REMINDER: Public HArt event at La Salle University will explore the intersection of art and public health (April 8)
Philadelphia, PA (04/08/2026) — Public HArt, a student-led event at La Salle University, is working to transform complex public health challenges into visual prompts to spark conversation and discussion about issues-like mental health, health equity, and environmental issues-that affect a huge number of the population daily.
Adia Brown, '27, MPH '28, the main organizer of the event, wanted to create an environment where fellow students could explore and express their emotions about public health issues through art. Her solution? Hosting Public HArt.
I thought Public HArt may be of interest to you for any stories you might be working on about innovative and interesting ways that students and young adults are approaching and reacting to public health issues that affect everyone in our community. I've included information on the event below. Please let me know if you can join us! Your feedback is appreciated either way.

Additional information on Public HArt
Brown was inspired to pursue a career in public health after seeing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and social justice issues in her community. A lifelong artist, she wanted to incorporate creativity into her chose field.
"This is a great event for people like me who at first thought public health and art had no intersection," Brown said. "They do. We see murals outside that have public health topics, poems that people write about public health issues. So, public health and art do have a place together and I just want to share that with the broader community."
